End of Year Fundraiser!
Odyssey II requires dry dock and maintenance work to qualify for insurance. This is essential and may well consume our remaining funds. We are also aiming to obtain a certificate of inspection, which is required for charters. We would like to complete some additional work while in drydock to expedite that process. Historically, charters comprised the main income stream for SSS 190 with Odyssey and we want to pursue that model again. The sooner we can obtain a COI, the sooner the program will become less reliant on donations. Finally, owning a boat comes with monthly carrying costs and until we establish reliable income via charters or grants, this is a continual drain on our accounts.
We deeply appreciate your past donations without which we wouldn’t have a boat at all. With no prospects for a new boat, SSS 190 would likely have folded as a sea scout group. We hope we can count on your continued support so that we may take the next steps in assuring that SSS 190 remains operational! The scouts that have stuck it out over the past few years are excited to start sailing Odyssey II, and we look forward to partnering with you to support the next generation of South Sound youth sailors!
